HYBRID AERIAL MAPPING
UltraCam Dragon
4.2
Imagery and LiDAR. In the same flight.
UltraCam Dragon 4.2 is a hybrid aerial mapping system combining nadir and oblique imaging with RIEGL LiDAR scanning. Images and three-dimensional measurements are evaluated together in projects from urban areas to vegetation.

Image dimensions
Approximately 243 megapixels in each RGB nadir and oblique image.
Maximum laser PRR
User-selectable pulse repetition rate.
Shortest capture interval
High-tempo image capture.
LiDAR scanning pattern
Two forward, one nadir and two backward views.
Pixels and points together.
Nadir RGB and NIR imagery, four-direction oblique RGB imagery and LiDAR measurements are captured in one system. Hybrid data makes it easier to interpret surface geometry, building façades and terrain details together.
Multidirectional imaging
1 RGB nadir, 1 NIR nadir and 4 RGB oblique sensors.
True nadir scanning
One of the five parallel LiDAR lines looks directly downward.
Uniform point distribution
A linear scanning pattern provides balanced coverage along the flight strip.
Sony IMX811
CMOS sensors with a physical pixel size of 2.81 µm.
AMC and TPP
Motion compensation and image processing for consistent detail and colour.
Selectable operating modes
Manage data volume by using the camera views required for the project.

LiDAR measurements from five angles.
RIEGL VQ-680 OEM uses a five-direction scanning pattern including a true nadir line. Different viewpoints help measure narrow urban gaps and details within vegetation.
- 60° cross-track field of view
- Scan directions of -20°, -10°, 0°, +10° and +20°
- Up to 2 million measurements/s at 2.4 MHz PRR and 60° scanning
From hybrid data to mapping products.
Image processing uses UltraMap and LiDAR post-processing uses RiPROCESS. UltraNav supports flight planning and georeferencing. Project deliverables are defined by evaluating imagery and LiDAR together.
- Photogrammetric production with UltraMap
- LiDAR post-processing with RiPROCESS
- Mission planning and navigation with UltraNav
